Police Use of Drones for Public Safety and Crime Prevention

russian drones in ukraine

The possibility of a police drone being used for surveillance is probably not what you are thinking about. A police drone offers many advantages. It can be faster than a helicopter and can take pictures of natural catastrophe sites, investigate crime scenes, and gather crucial intelligence from the skies. The police drone can track and pursue suspects as well as track fugitives. It is a powerful tool that can be used to enhance public safety and reduce crime.

Grabbit G6

A new technology is coming to the police department: a drone. The Grabbit G6 police drone uses facial recognition technology to identify protesters. HigherGround developed this technology, called Live911. This technology allows a police operator to listen to 911 calls live. This data provides tactical intelligence that allows the teleoperator to launch the drone based upon the reported emergency. Police departments are able to send drones on the spot before officers even notice what's happening.

Skyseer

Fully loaded SkySeer can be purchased for between US$25,000-30000. This price includes all electronics, a video surveillance system, and a ground station with computer interfaces. The video interface can transmit real-time video to the police's laptop. Once a case is over, the video can be recorded to DVD or Macromedia Flash. A preset flight path is also available for the drone.

AeroVironment

Grand Forks, N.D. Sheriff's Department, is one of few agencies that are using AeroVironment Drones for Police. The company's drone is similar to a model airplane with four rotors and a video camera. Rather than watching a suspect, the drone can follow him or her around and capture images for authorities to use in an arrest or investigation. The drone is called the Qube. It is not a toy.

Predator

U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection controls a Predator drone. It is a highly-sophisticated aerial surveillance tool. Using thermal imaging and cameras, these aircraft fly at high altitudes to capture footage of criminals. A Predator B flew overhead during civil unrest in Minnesota. Nelson County police attribute the arrest to the Brossart surveillance family. Drones are a great tool for law enforcement, despite privacy concerns.

Reaper

The MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted aircraft used by the United States Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force, and the UK's Ministry of Defence. Reaper has many capabilities, including the ability to observe terrain and hunt targets. Multiple sensors and payloads such as a thermographic camera allow the Reaper to gather signals intelligence data on a target, and its satellite link allows it to receive operator commands in less than one second.

How To

How do you clean your drone?

These are some tips to help you clean your drone. This guide will show you how to get every bit of your drone's potential.

  1. Make sure you have the right tools. Before you begin anything, ensure you have all of the necessary tools. A soft toothbrush (or a toothbrush), and a cleaning solution (we recommend using WD40).
  2. Remove the battery pack. The first thing you need to do is remove the battery from the drone's bottom. It is easy to locate the battery under your propeller. Ensure that you don't lose any screws when removing the propeller.
  3. You will need to remove all parts. Next, you'll need to carefully remove all of the parts from the underside of your drone. Make sure they're not loose or damaged as they might fall off during cleaning.
  4. Use a cleaning product. Now it is time to clean the drone. We recommend that you use WD40 as a cleaning agent before doing this. Use the cleaner to spray your drone's entire surface. Be sure to get in between all components. Allow it to dry completely before you assemble everything.
  5. Replace the battery. After cleaning your drone, you should put the battery back into its original place. That way, you'll be able to test how well your drone works after being cleaned.
